Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FSKTM) Open Day 2023.
Date and Location
The Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Malaya has held an open day for two days, 28th-29th July 2023 (Friday and Saturday) located at Block A of FSKTM, University of Malaya.
Participants
The total number of visitors for both days was 248 people of which 81% were mostly local people who wanted to know about the bachelor’s degree program which was 74.2% compared to the master’s or PhD program which was 25.8%.
Description of activities
Each department including the Software Engineering Department is required to open their respective booths and display the research and programs offered. The Software Engineering Department did not miss out on displaying videos and pictures of ICT INOV Design Thinking program to attract the interest of visitors.
Interestingly, based on the survey received, among the six bachelor’s degree programs offered, the Bachelor of Computer Science (Software Engineering) perceived the highest place from visitors to find out more about this program which is 57.1% as in Figure 1.0.
We believe that ICT INOV program can attract more young people to choose the Software Engineering Department in the future since most of the lecturers in the department practice Design Thinking in teaching classes that emphasize on the aspect of innovative creative thinking in group activities. It also has a positive impact on the Software Engineering Department in making the Faculty Open Day 2023 a success.
