Designing impactful solutions: integrating design thinking in FYPs.
Date and location
A community building event was organized at the Department of Computer Science, ISRA university on August 24, 2023. The event was organized in one of the general-purpose labs that of the faculty of engineering, sciences, and technology, ISRA University, Hyderabad. All the faculty members and students of the Department of Computer Science were invited to attend the workshop.
Audience
A total of 39 participants which include faculty members and final year students of the department of computer science attended the workshop.
Activities
The purpose of organizing the workshop for the faculty members and students of final year of their undergraduate degree program was to introduce design thinking process and how it can be used in the final year project (FYP) to improve their idea and work. The FYP runs for two semesters. Therefore, the students have plenty of time to discuss and improve their idea and work based on the discussion with their supervisor. The students were first given an introduction of design thinking and the steps involved in it. Then, they were given an introduction to the ICT-INOV portal to support design thinking related activities. Later, they were splitted into the groups; for the consistency, the groups were the same as of groups used for their FYP. The students were asked to register themselves on the portal and then join the group of their respective subject. The students were asked to discuss their project and design thinking related activities posted in their respective group on the portal among each other.
