The lecture was conducted in Binus University, Jakarta and estimated attendance by 40 students. While the workshop was conducted in Binus University, Bandung, Indonesia and estimated attendance by 80 undergraduate students.
Description of activities
The event was conducted by Dr. Raja Jamilah Raja Yusof in conjunction with the International Week in Binus University, Indonesia. An Introductory Lecture on Design Thinking lecture was given to about 40 students in Binus Jakarta on the October 9, 2023. The lecture started with looking into what design thinking is and then followed by explanation of the steps in design thinking, empathy map, mind map, persona, user interviews, problem framing, how to choose a solution, and more.
Participants were also asked to choose a problem to solve and create a user persona as well as an empathy map. The following are some of the listed problems tried to solve. Some examples of problems addressed follow:
Morning Routines
Problem: Many people feel rushed in the morning and struggle to start their day in a positive and productive way.
Healthy Eating
Problem: Individuals often find it difficult to maintain a balanced diet due to busy schedules or lack of knowledge.
Exercise & Fitness
Problem: Many find it challenging to fit regular exercise into their daily lives or to stay motivated.
Digital Distractions
Problem: People are often distracted by smartphones, social media, and other digital notifications, affecting their productivity and well-being.
Commuting
Problem: Daily commutes can be tiring, long, and stressful, impacting the overall mood and energy of commuters.
Recycling & Waste Management
Problem: Despite wanting to recycle, many people are unsure about what can be recycled or find the process inconvenient.
